Togo, here we come!

Dear Family of ACTS,

With COVID-19 vaccinations taking place, the threat of the pandemic has been reduced. Finally, it’s time to visit the family in Togo! On August 5th, Pastor James, Michael and Gigi will visit the partners in Togo and continue to forward love and build the community together!

The preventive measures that need to be taken during the trip are serious: PCR testing (COVID-19 testing) three days before departure, filling the proof of vaccination form, and downloading the Togolese government designed tracking app for the outgoing trip. Before leaving Togo, we must do another PCR test that shows a negative result. Throughout the whole trip, we must keep in line with local safety measures such as wearing masks and social distancing. Please keep us in prayer so that  we may have a safe and sound journey.

The main missions of this trip can be divided into three aspects:

ACTS (Africa Career Training School) Visiting

  1. Due to the increase in the number of students, the existing classrooms are already insufficient, and short-term solutions need to be found. We are considering setting up a mobile classroom on the top floor of our existing building. May the Lord grant us the wisdom to see if it’s the best solution right now.
  2. Talk to the Paramount-Chief about his land donation and the vision to build a school building on it. Pray for the Lord’s protection of the land donation so it can be successfully completed, and give us the wisdom to have the best plan for the use of the land.
  3. One-day staff training course, including administration, management, and communication skills.

River of Life Clinic

  1. One-day staff training course, hope to build professional trust and relational bonding between the teams of Togo and North America.
  2. Establishing the Health Stations. We will continue the set-up of the health stations in the two villages we visited last time. The health station will provide services like basic health check up, malaria test, public health seminar, etc. The health station could also provide local health and diseases related datas for the future medical mission development of ACTS and Chia-Yi Christian Hospital. May God bless the establishment process to be very successful.

Collaboration with “Step30”

  1. During this trip, Pastor James will also cooperate with Taiwan’s “Step30” organization for the first time. Together we will build a well in a River of Life village church to supply water for local residents. At the same time, we will also discuss future cooperation in African ministry. May God show his will for this brotherly cooperation to bless Togo in more diverse ways.

Although the pandemic has caused great harm to the world, the missions of ACTS has never stopped. Instead, by participating in the local pandemic prevention and relief work, the local people were able to know us and trust us on a deeper level, and witness the compassion of God behind these acts of love.
